You\u2019ve decided to make Yosemite your next backpacking destination, but what do you need to pack? If you\u2019re going with a group, be sure to check with your leader as they might provide many of the items you\u2019ll need. However, if you’re more of a solo adventurer, this information on Yosemite backpacking essentials is for you.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n To start things off, we need to cover the basics of what every backpacker needs, also known as the Ten Essential Systems. These systems include <\/span>navigation (both a map & GPS device preferred), effective sun protection, insulation, luminance, first-aid supplies, a firestarter (view <\/span>fire regulations<\/span><\/a>), a repair kit with tools, food, hydration, and shelter.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n According to the National Parks Service (NPS), <\/span>Yosemite is nearly 95% designated wilderness.
